Dear Cathie and Jeff
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. My daughter said she was just really thinking about Nina today and that’s when we found out the sad news. I spoke with Nina via Jeff and my heart was so warmed that she remembered me. I have known Nina most of my life as she worked with my mom at Dominion. You guys and my mom and I went on a few adventures together. The haunted house at Niagara gave me ptsd haha. But I remember your mom laughing so hard that day. It’s a memory that I will forever cherish. After my mom passed, my family still had your mom come over for a few more Christmas celebrations with us. Usually just for a cup of tea and a small sweet. I loved your mom like family. I know her, Al and my mom and dad are all up in heaven enjoying some good old Newfie and Irish music and a refreshing beverage. Again so sorry for your loss but your mom led a wonderful life and always made me happy. I will cherish the quilts she made my kids when they were babies. And I have the magnet she gave my mom as a gag gift many years ago on my fridge. Every time I see it I smile. God Bless Nina.

Cathie, Jeff and family.
I was heartbroken to hear of Aunt Nina's passing. She was my birthday buddy and I remember some wonderful time spent with her at Nan Elliotts place in Northern Arm and Botwood. I'll never forget you. Thank you for all the wonderful advice!

I didn't know her but she led a remarkable life just reading her tributes. Be proud of the memories and the closeness you all shared.

I'd like to send my condolences to Nina's family.
I met Nina through my neighbour across the road, Lilian who Nina would visit through their shared back gate. Nina was a good friend, taking Lillian to appointments and getting her shopping etc.
When Lillian moved into Cedarvale care home Nina and I remained friends. I'd occasionally stop by on a walk around the neighbourhood and we'd share a tea/coffee on the deck or at Timmies, or a phone call if we'd not been in touch for a while.
Nina was a positive person, always with a story to tell. She loved her independence and especially her family.

I’m so sad to lose this wonderful Sister in law. Nina was so sensible and logical in her outlook on life. We shared manny interests. Gardening , family, and sewing of quilts. Although I never took up crocheting. But I did plant a Rose of Sharron as she always told me about hers. We had manny visits here from her. And once with her husband Al. She always enjoyed telling me about her work as a young woman here in NL. As she travelled arround as a telegraph operator living with the locals all over the province. My last visit with her was 7 years ago. In her home in Keswick. She showed me her cupboards full of her finished textile art. She also gave me a small crocheted throw for Tonya Mae my daughter with Nina’s middle name who almost shared her birthday April 29 vs Nina’s 30th. There are so manny connections. Will remember her with love.

I have so many wonderful memories. I don’t know where to begin. There is 12 years between us. So my first memories would be more like mother and daughter. Then as I got older we had a wonderful sister relationship. She went to Ontario when I was 13. She came home every year to visit. But it wasn’t until I was 20 that we really bonded as sisters. I spent the summer with her. She wasn’t working at the time. She was married but she didn’t have any children then. I was on holidays. I had the summer off. We went somewhere different everyday. We had a wonderful summer. After that we kept in touch by letters and I talked her into getting a computer, so then we sent emails. Then came cell phones. I guess the best memory we both had was our trip across Canada. We were in all ten provinces in the year 2000 . Nina’s husband hadn’t been west of Ontario and he was really excited about seeing the mountains. We talked about that trip a lot and I have it on video. I miss you so much dear sister.

I am so sad that Nina has left us. She was just the most gentle, thoughtful, kind and humorous person ever. I loved listening to her stories when she won the grand prize at the CNE, surviving Hurricane Hazel, growing up and family life in Newfoundland.. I will miss her dearly….Sean
