Obituary of Agnes Peters

With love and gratitude for a wonderful life we announce the peaceful passing of my beautiful mother on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the age of 95 years, while residing at the Eagle Terrace Nursing Home, Newmarket, Ontario, following a short battle with COVID -19. Agnes McLean, Born March 5, 1927, in Stellarton, Pictou, Nova Scotia, one of thirteen children born to the late David Arthur McLean (97 years) of Lansdown, Pictou County, Nova Scotia and Lillian Osborne (68 years) of Stellarton, Nova Scotia. Agnes was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ralph Peters, of 44 Years, in Toronto. Together they had one daughter, Judith Colquhoun (Hugh) of Keswick, Ontario. Agnes is survived by her brother Melford MacLean of Stellarton, Nova Scotia and predeceased by sisters, Bertha Somero (Andy), Elizabeth Seymour (Jim), Priscilla, Emeline, Laura, Hazel, Katherine and Gladys Lynch (Dick); brothers, Woody (Marjorie), Edwin (Kaye) and Arthur "Buck" (Lila) of Nova Scotia. Agnes was blessed with 2 grandchildren, Iain Colquhoun (Gineen) and Sean Colquhoun (Wanda) who gave her great joy. She was a special Great Nanny to two great-granddaughters, Abbie and Hannah Colquhoun (Sean & Wanda). Her life source was affectionate devotion to her family, siblings, nieces and nephews. Mom made yearly family visits back home in Stellarton Nova Scotia every summer, visiting two sisters Bertha and Elizabeth in the USA, each Spring. Mom lived a life with love and gratitude, enjoyed Christmas, family gatherings, never missed Birthday celebrations or a special occasion for all members of her family, in Toronto, Keswick, Stellarton and the USA. Mom left home at a young age to join her older sister, Priscilla, in the big city of Toronto, where she worked in factories during WWII making munitions for our Soldiers overseas. She met and married Ralph Peters who worked at West Steel. Together they had one girl, the love of their life, Judith. Mom worked at the T. Eaton Co. for many years until they closed and then worked for 20 years at the Seiko Watch Co. in North York until her retirement. Mom was kind and caring to all she met and rarely spent a day without a positive outlook on life. She was a wonderful role model for us to emulate. Her greatest gift was her love to sustain us as we say goodbye to our precious matriarch who will be greatly missed! The family wishes to thank the staff at Eagle Terrace Nursing Home for their compassionate care and the Doctors for their guidance these past weeks, in a Covid-19 environment. Cremation has taken place. Agnes will be laid to rest with her parents at the New Glasgow Brookside Cemetery, 1000 E. River Road, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia on Saturday, August 20th, 2022 at 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life will take place at the MacQuarries Funeral Chapel, 18 Acadia Ave., Stellarton, Nova Scotia on Saturday, August 20th, 2022 at 12 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to M.W.
