Obituary of Deborah Alison Ann Mielitz
MIELITZ, Deborah Alison Ann “Debbie” (neé Walker)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Deborah Alison Ann Mielitz in the early hours on Monday, February 21, 2022.
Deborah studied Travel and Tourism at Seneca College before changing her interests to corporate real estate in which she prepared leases and legal documents. She loved this career and the people she worked with but left the workforce when she realized her life’s greatest desire - to be a mother - when she gave birth to her son Christopher. After the birth of her second son Noah, joyously doubling on her self proclaimed purpose for her life, Debbie opened a successful home daycare, committing to providing affordable daycare for parents in the neighbourhood of her Keswick home. She was loved by the parents of the children she cared for and forged strong friendships with several of them. The word spread and the waiting list grew. Substantially.
Deborah’s smile illuminated the rooms she entered and warmed the hearts of those that came to know her. She was a very kind and quiet soul, very devout in her Christian faith. Deborah loved her boys more than words could ever convey, except for those of their own, which will attest to the mother she was and her unwavering love that will remain in their hearts.
Deborah will be deeply missed by her two sons, Christopher and Noah and the boys’ father Jeffrey. Deborah is predeceased by her mother Susan and will be fondly remembered by her father Stuart (Gwen), her brothers Simon and Robert (Janice), her birth parents Gary (Colleen and daughter Jenna) and Pamela, her birth sister Ashley and Jeffrey’s parents Wolfgang (late June) and Ingeborg, grandmother Marlene, as well as many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends from far and wide. Of particular note, Debbie will be profoundly missed by her dearest friend Jeanette who was at Debbie’s side almost daily through her good times and struggles. The family is extremely grateful for Jeanette’s kindness and selfless, tireless commitment to Debbie’s comforts and care. Jeanette, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so very much. The family would also wish to thank the staff at Cedarvale Lodge in Keswick for their tender and thorough care for Debbie and for patiently assisting the family in advocating for the very best for Deborah and thank you to the medical and care staff that helped along Deborah’s journey from the onset. Further heartfelt thanks are extended to the people and friends from Keswick Christian Church for their support and prayers over the years. An additional and continuing thank you to the many family and friends that have reached out with kind words and helping hands and continue to do so.
Visitation will be held at the M.W. Becker Funeral Home, 490 The Queensway South, Keswick on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Followed by a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 2 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada would be very much appreciated https://mssociety.ca/ Sign an online book of condolences at mwbeckerfuneralhome.com
