Dear Don,Tony,Sara and family, and also Stuart's family.
It is with great sadness that I've read in today's paper about your mom's passing. Merle was my kindergarten teacher and remained a lady that I greatly admire still today. When your mom was the librarian at Jersey Public she always took the time to hunt out books for me that she thought that I would enjoy. I always did. And i know that I was not the only one she did this for.
I enjoyed visiting Merle and Don at their home where we had tea and gingerbread cookies and spent time reminiscing about school days and catching up on the present.
Again my deepest sympathies,
Jennifer

We are deeply saddened of the loss of Merle. What started out for me 9 years ago as a job, taking care of their property, turned into a very close friendship for all of us. We had numerous occasions, where we were able to get together and enjoy stories and laughter and each other's company. We will miss Merle's funny sense of humor, quick wit, kindness and generosity. Our deepest condolences to Don, Tony, Sara and family and Stuart's wife Buffy and family. RIP Merle.

I'm am sorry and sad to hear of the passing of "Auntie Merle". She use to say if it weren't for her starting my life off properly by being my Kindergarten teacher, who knows where I would have end up. She would stand at the top of the halls of Jersey PS at recess and pout her lower lip and stare down the halls...and everyone would hurry to move along, she had the power. She would call and sing the worst ear piercing Happy Birthday or better yet, come to the house and sing in person. My Mom called her " best friend ", my Dad loved being her Bridge partner, my Uncle Ralph loved to get into "passionate deep" discussions with her. She was a wonderful person and a very wonderful family friend to us all. I am sending much love and hugs to you all.....

Tony your mom is so fondly remembered. She was my kindergarten teacher and the only teacher to give me the strap with my mom's approval. I loved your mom as our librarian. So many stories she read to us. She was the mock preacher at our mock wedding for our wedding shower. We have this on video. So many memories together. She was a great friend to my mom. So sorry for your family's loss. Thinking of you Don with Merle's absence now. May you know God's presence with you in a greater way.
