Peter Traczuk

Obituary of Peter Michael Traczuk

Suddenly on November 10, 2013 as a result of an air traffic accident in Red Lake, Ontario, Peter passed away on his 34th birthday. Peter leaves to mourn his beloved wife Christa Traczuk (nee Maguire) of Winnipeg; cherished children Lydia 7, Evan 5 and Sean 3; loving parents Joanne and Walter Traczuk of Cannington, ON; dear brother Andrew; dear mother-in-law Janice Maguire and dear brother-in-law Kevin Maguire. He will also be fondly remembered by extended family members, friends and co-workers. Peter grew up in Keswick, ON where he attended Jersey PS & Sutton District High School. He continued his studies at Queen’s University but after a two years decided to pursue a career in aviation at Seneca School of Aviation & Technology. He always wanted to be a pilot, even from a very young age. It started when his kindergarten teacher took him on a field trip to Buttonville Airport. After marrying in 2005 Peter and his wife Christa moved to Northern B.C. where he worked for Barrick Gold, flying miners into Eskay Creek Gold Mine as a co-pilot in their Twin Otter. While in B.C. Peter and Christa became the proud parents of Lydia in 2006 and Evan in 2007. Upon the closing of the mine in Smithers B.C. Peter, Christa and their children moved to Winnipeg where Peter continued to advance his career as a pilot. He worked briefly for Keystone Air and in 2009 joined the crew at Bearskin Airlines where he became a Captain in 2012. During this time Peter and Christa also welcomed their 3rd child Sean into their family in 2010. Peter was a dedicated family man always putting his wife and children first. His wife “Tisa” (aka the Warden); his daughter Princess Lydia; his eldest son “Evers” and his youngest son “Seanie Bonnie Boy” were his most valuable possessions. Whatever made them happy made him happy. He was a hands-on father who relished in his children’s accomplishments and loved to spend all of his spare time with them. Christa often referred to him as her fourth child. He will always be remembered for his big laugh, his wonderful smile, his great sense of humour and the kind words he had for everyone he met or worked with. An Education Trust Fund for Peter’s children is being set up by ALPA and Bearskin Airlines. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at a CIBC bank near you. Transit number 00897 account number 2029731. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bardal Funeral Home in Winnipeg.
