Obituary of Frank Plummer

Owner of Ampco Machinery Moving & Transportation On the morning of Sunday August 17, Frank Plummer took his last long cruise into the sunset. Born in Newmarket, Ontario on November 8, 1947, Frank was the eldest son of Frank and Virginia Plummer (Phoenix). A licensed machinist by trade, Frank spent countless hours in his shop working on hot rods, trucks, forklifts and anything else with an engine. He was also a prolific bass player and played his favorite old country music with several bands; professionally for a few years, but always with heart and soul. A friend to everyone that met him, Frank was known for his generosity, his kind spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand. Frank started his own business almost 30 years ago, and his reputation as a machinery mover was known throughout the industry. Left to cherish Frank’s memory are his daughter Leanne Dunn of Beaverton, Ontario; daughter Pamela Watson of Cary, North Carolina; son Patrick Plummer (Jeannine) of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; grandsons Mitchell, Owen and Braydon; brother Myles Plummer (Lynda) of Uxbridge, Ontario; nephews Neil Plummer (Joanne) and Blair Plummer (Sue); his loving partner Sherrie Traviss of Newmarket; and countless friends, coworkers and clients. A visitation will be held on Friday August 22 at 10:00 am, at the Keswick Christian Church (2 Old Homestead Road, Keswick), with a celebration of his life to follow at 11:00 am. At Frank’s request, friends with a hot rod, an antique car or other unique vehicle are asked to help turn the parking lot into an impromptu car show. In lieu of flowers, the family would warmly appreciate a donation in Frank’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke foundation and/or the Diabetes Foundation.
