Obituary of Douglas Payton Trotter
November 20th, 2014 – at the age of 81 passed peacefully with his family and Elvis, his canine companion, by his side. Lovingly married for 49 years to the late Shirley Jean (nee Hicks). Beloved father of Deborah (Kelly) and Kevin. Dear brother of Audrey Bailey and the late Ken Trotter. Doug (Mr. T) will be greatly missed by Carter, the Henry family, and many other lifelong friends and family members including his nieces Pam McWatters, Alexis MacMillan, and Diane Bland (David) and his nephews Michael Trotter (Shirley), Robert Bailey (Helen), and David Bailey (Andrea). Doug was employed by Ontario Hydro for over 40 years and had been happily retired for a couple of decades. Doug rejoined the local Lions Club after Shirley’s passing and his membership was a lifeline and godsend. Doug had the opportunity to live life on his own terms, often gone walking in the valley with Elvis and a cigar – he will be sadly missed by all. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Hoy and Caroline for their unwavering care and support over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doug may be made to the Bowmanville Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Lions Club of Bowmanville.
