After a prolonged battle with cardiovascular disease Douglas passed away peacefully with his family by his side at St. Michael’s Hospital, on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in his 66th year. Loving husband and best friend of Kim (nee Jenkins) for 23 years Beloved father of Ron and his wife Tonya, Jason and his wife Sue, Danielle and her husband Robert Lamanna, Shirley (predeceased 2009) survived by husband Greg Coons, Gerri-Anne and Kristopher Deschamps, Susan and her husband Sam Campanella, Proud grandfather of Aaron, Adam, James, Cole, Holden, Jaden, Elisa, Ava, Layla, Ben and Eleanor. Son of the late James and Barbara McConnell. He will be greatly missed by his “buddy” mother-in-law Shirley Jenkins and all who knew him. Doug was born on April 22, 1950, he was a dedicated family man who enjoyed gardening and restoring his heritage home. A loving husband, dad and grandpa who will never be forgotten. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. At Douglas’s request a private family service was held on Friday, September 4, 2015. Memorial donations in Douglas’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A chapter completed, a page turned, a life well lived, a rest well earned.
