Carolyn Gilmour-Ellis posted a condolence

I wish to express my sincere condolences to Ed's loved ones at this sad time. Ed "called" on me for the past 16 years. I explained this connection to some of his family recently at the hospital, where I met Ed in a room brimming with loved ones. This scenario was perfectly fitting because as I knew him, Ed had an "entourage" of loving friends that enabled him to maintain his W"ED"nesday visits. The multitude of people supporting Ed says much about him. Ed had an undeniably infectious charm and wit. While I understand the duty of pioneering, it was clear that with every magazine given and scripture read, it was his kind intention to give me a little bit of guidance and comfort through life's journey...and he was funny! I will genuinely miss seeing Ed come up my walkway and through my door. I will miss his good-natured banter too. I am confident that with his faith, Ed went to rest in peace. I hope knowledge of that, along with the good memories of him, comfort his loved ones as they grieve. Reflecting on the totally random friendship I felt with Ed, I think it would give him great pleasure to know that, for me, he reinforced an invalube lesson: Open your door with an open heart, without judgement, because there just might be an "Ed" wating to meet you on the other side! I might not have expressed this in words to him, but I believe it was understood when I knocked on his door a few nights ago. I will think of Ed often and with much fondness. Sincerely, Carolyn Gilmour-Ellis and family
