I was very saddened to hear of Larry's sudden passing and my deepest condolences go out to the Jewell family. I worked with Larry for many years at the City first in Surveying and most recently in the Building Division. What impressed me most about Larry was his dedication to his family and his work as well as his generosity and thoughtfulness. We shared an interest in music, sport cars and 'The Three Stooges'. I will remember him as a good man always there for the people in his life.

Dear Jewell family, You probably won't remember me but I worked at the City of Toronto from 2000-2006 and worked with Larry from time to time over those 6 years. My wife, Ragini, just phoned me today as she heard about Larry's passing through Facebook. I just received a LinkedIn message from Larry on Sept 29 in response to an earlier message where I was mentioning to him about our move back to Canada from New Zealand and how we were slowly getting accustomed to our new life in Edmonton. Larry wrote back to me saying: 'Good to hear. Miss having you around the city. I'm retired from the city but pretty busy with my consulting. We are just moving to Beaverton area at the end of next month. Close to the coyotes and bears ;) lol!!!! Nice cycling roads up there along the Trent Canal. Say hi to Ragini for me as well.' Hearing this awful news is a huge shock to me, particularly since his last message was about your upcoming move to the Beaverton area and how excited he was. I still remember him back during our City of Toronto days talking about how much he loved the outdoors, he talked about it all the time. He was such a kind hearted person. I remember when I left the City of Toronto to move to New Zealand he wished me all the best and said that he would keep in contact with me. While most people say things like that, you never really expect it to happen. But when Larry said something he truly meant it! During my 10 years in NZ Larry sent me a number of emails and messages about how his life was going and asking me how things were ‘down under.’ I did respond to him but admittedly not as much as I should have. Thankfully my wife called me out a number of times for not responding to Larry’s messages so I eventually did in time – boy I am really going to miss his emails and updates. I just wanted to let you know that I am truly sorry for your loss and from my family to yours, please accept our most deepest sympathies. Robert Lipka

Larry and I shared morning coffee's over the last 12 month when he was working in Toronto, we not only chatted about that days meeting but also about life's larger picture and the challenges we all face day to day. I am grateful to have had that time with him. Larry spoke proudly of his family and enjoyed the comradery of friends.

I just want to call his number and hear his kind voice again. I still can't believe that I am not going to hear his voice anymore. He was always ready within minutes to help for any project or giving any information, no matter where or when. His loss, will be felt for many years for any type of development in the city of Toronto and GTA.

What sad news to receive on such a lovely autumn day. We last saw Larry at Auntie Marg's funeral and it had been several years before then that we last meet. We are twenty years older than Larry so have had little contact with him or his family. I know Larry liked the idea that I had three degrees in geography and that he was a city planner with cartography linking are interests. Unfortunately our health is such so that we will not be able to attend the service but know you will be in our thoughts and memories of happier days so long ago. Frank and Kathleen

Myself and the team at Staples in Keswick extend our deepest sympathies to Jenifer and family. Larry was a regular visitor to our store since we opened and the staff always enjoyed conversing with him over the years. Larry, our talks were a highlight in my day.. you will definitely be missed.
