Carol DiStasi posted a condolence

My Ex Husband Mike DiStasi and I used to work with Barry at Sears, Upper Canada Mall. They were both Mechanics and I worked at Sear's briefly in Children's Wear.
Although I haven't seen Barry in years (last time was at the Parts Store across from his house where he was working), I'm saddened by his loss, as is another coworker from Sears and a Keswick Resident. She found Barry's obituary while looking for a family members.
Coincidentally I drove by Barry and Pam's house a few weeks ago after leaving Keswick dental. I stopped briefly, the house looked quiet and only saw one vehicle. I wondered how he was and paused because I thought he may have passed (my 6th sense kicked in, even though I wasn't aware of his passing at the time).
Barry was a sweet soul, always friendly and had a subtle sense of humour. He had a silent charm, was very hard working and well liked by all that knew him.
It's a wonderful tribute you posted and enjoying looking at your family pictures and all the memories you created.
Sending condolences from my Ex and myself, and thanks for having Barry as a friend and someone who brightened our lives.
Sincerely - Carol Williamson and Mike DiStasi

Dear Pam and family;
Thank you for all the awesome memories at Carson and Trout Lake! Barry was generous with his time - he drove circles in the boat teaching us how to water ski with his big smile! He was Dad and Nellie’s pal - good fun! We have known your family for 50+ years and value your friendship. Thinking of you all at this sad time. Flora Duchrow, Angela and Chris Clouthier and family, Debbie and Terry Lance, Jeris and Dean Johnston and family and Dean and Nicky Duchrow and family.
P.S. We know the spot Mike was talking about where memories never fray.

Dear Pam and Family,
It has been a long time since we first met Barry, but our memories of those times so very long ago a still great ones.
You were living across the street with your uncle Vic Sturdy and your friendship with Sue allowed us to all meet one another and have the best times in the parking lot below our apartment. Still remember the many weekends of music and laughter and lots of beer. Missing so many of our friends from back then. Thankful that you and Barry had almost as many years together as we do.
Cannot attend the funeral, but please know our thoughts and love are with you and yours.
In Friendship Always,
Marta & Steve Dowanik

They say that first impressions are lasting impressions. I first met Barry when I was a young boy, on the beach of Trout Lake. This was the public beach for Carson Lake Provincial Park. Barry was running around with a bucket of water, soaking people who were sitting or sunbathing on the beach. Barry was laughing while doing this, he was full of fun and laughter . My most recent, and last memory of Barry was just several weeks ago. My wife Dianne and I walked down to Barry and Pam’s trailer for a visit. Barry brought out some photos of when he was a young boy. In the photos were Barry, his brother, Mother and Father, camping at the Provincial Park. The park was full with tents and cars from the fifties and sixties. The old boats were lined up on the shore by the beach. He showed us pictures of the fish he and his brother had caught. We talked about the many years our Families had been coming up to this area. Barry now at 73 years of age and myself at 62. I mentioned to Barry he’s made a lot of memories up here and a lot of history, but before I could finish, Pam said Yea, he’s like part of the furniture up here… we all had a good laugh. In memory of Barry I would like to unofficially name a spot on Trout Lake after him. This spot will be called, “Barry’s Bay “… Here are four clues as to its location. • Where the two lakes meet. • Warm sand under your feet. • The Sun shines all Day. •Where memories never fray. When you find this location on Trout Lake, I encourage you to take the time to sit down, relax and enjoy the moment… But don’t relax too much, you might be awakened by a bucket of cold Lake water… THANK-YOU Barry for being you!…. Mike Reid.
