Obituary of Benedict Lawrence Fernandes

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Benedict Lawrence Fernandes, who passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023, at the age of 82. Born in 1941 he was the son of the late Evelyn and Louis Fernandes. Beloved husband of Marilyn Fernandes (nee Evis) for almost 50 years. Cherished father of Wayne Fernandes (Theresa), Candice Comeau (Graeme Gordon), Daril Fernandes, and Taryn Mitchell (Andrew). Dear Grandpa of Matthew, Alexsandria, Jacob, Cailyn, Aidan, and Andrew, and great grandpa to Axl. Dear brother of Greg, Maurette, Juvenal, Neil, Patty-Anne, and the late Andy and Desio. Ben lived an active lifestyle. He enjoyed walks with his wife, tennis and golf with his children, and he shared his quick witt and intelligence with all those who he held dear. He loved to debate politics with his siblings and enjoyed close relationships with many of his family members throughout his life. Ben revered and respected his mother greatly and modeled his life after her with his own children. He found peace in his new home in Keswick and enjoyed the quiet of the birds and landscape from his porch or backyard with his cherished wife by his side. He is gone too soon, but always with us and loved forever and always. Visitation will be held at M.W. Becker Funeral Home, 490 The Queensway South, Keswick on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 129 Metro Road N, Keswick on Saturday, September 16th at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Keswick Cemetery.
