Marysia was one of the first members I got to know when I became receptionist for CUPE Local 905. She was kind, warm, cheeky, and full of love for all around her. She always put her full self into everything she did, and touched so many hearts, including mine and my mother. We will miss her dearly.

Marysia was always there to help and support staff in everything she did. Whether it be work related or social, she always brightened the room. The picture is from one of the many years she helped out with the York Region Poker Run raising money for Make-a-Wish foundation.
Marysia, YOU WILL BE MISSED!. Rest in Peace.

I am so sad to learn of Marysia’s passing. Marysia was one of the first people I met when I started working full-time at York Region. She was so friendly and cheerful and offered to help with anything. We even carpooled for a brief period. From very early on I learned how deeply she loved her family. Her dedication and support for them was unwavering. Something I had only seen in movies. In more recent years, whenever we met up in the parking lot or hallway we would have a quick chat. She would always ask about my family and specifically how my mom was doing. When the world felt so busy, she helped slow it down when you spoke with her. My deepest sympathies to Marysia’s family and friends.

Marysia was such a gentle, caring, compassionate woman who always took the time to stop and not just talk but really listen.
Every interaction I had with her or was blessed to witness demonstrated the above.
It was as though every person she encountered was a friend whom she would make time for.
Personally Marysia touched my life during a hard time. She shared her guidance and wisdom with me. When next I saw her months later she still remembered me by name and always stopped to check in whenever she saw me.
Marysia proved everyday that while one person cannot change the massive problems in the world you can make an impactful difference in the lives of the people you personally meet which in turn has a ripple effect on others. She made a difference here in York Region. .Her impact, her acts will live on.
Thank you Marysia for your legacy, you truly were a person to look up to.

She was so dedicated and very compassionate about the work she did. We will always remember how fiercely you fought for all of us while on the union bargaining committee, and of course, the many, many hours of your time spent volunteering. She cared so much for all of her friends and coworkers and made each and every one of us feel special. Her face would light up so brightly as she shared her stories about her family. You couldn't beat Marysia's energy and positive outlook on life. She was a vibrant force to be reckoned with. I remember getting into a car accident at the Queensway and Ravenshoe, on the way to high school, and while sitting in the police car getting interviewed, she stuck her head in the window to make sure I was okay, and to give the officer a very positive reference about my character. When she left, the cop asked if she was my mother, and I had to smile, thinking "yeah, sort of". You will be missed!

If those that knew Marysia the way I do. Her constant statements of referring to ( her Terry, her Michael and her Elizabeth) We have all heard it a million times over the years, but it just reminds me of how she thought of her family as being hers and was so grateful for them.
God bless you my friend and may you soar with the angels and find peace where ever you land. I will miss you so very much, but I'am so glad that your suffering is over. Until we meet again.

She touched so many lives and meant so much to more people than we can imagine. Being able to work along side her at both the union hall and for our work united way campaign was truly a wonderful experience. She loved everyone, she had your back 100%, her family, her friends, her relationships meant everything to her. She was so proud of her kids and grandkids. I am so heart broken by this. I worked with Marysia. Not directly but she sort of knew everyone! I was just thinking about Marysia yesterday while online shopping for a Roomba. She raved about hers. Hearing the news today was a shock. She was always smiling and took the time to ask how I was and how my parents are. She worked with my father years ago. She seemed to be involved in every event the Region hosted. Public Works day, the softball tournament, the craft show. She was always there with a big welcoming smile. Her Region friends will miss her dearly. I send my condolences to her family.

My deepest sympathies on your/our loss of Marysia
"Be kind", yes what an appropriate phrase on her bereavement notice! For me as a union steward, Marysia could be counted on a smile and sound advice. She undertook a lion's share of union work and many York Region staffers benefited from her empathetic ear, sage advice and advocacy and support which helped ease many a union member's mind in difficult situations. Marysia was a left a fabulous legacy of caring!

I have so many fond memories of Marysia, going back to the time when I worked in consulting and came to the Region for meetings. She always treated me so kindly. When I joined the Region we had many engaging conversations which she started by calling me"the kid"! I really loved her endearing and warm approach to everyone she encountered while she made sure she got her point across. She often talked about her family and I pass on my sympathies to all her family members. I know you all will deeply miss her as her "York Region family" does.

She always had time for you. She was the Regions Mother as someone else put it. And that term is very fitting for her, because she cared about everyone. And probably the only person who could get away with calling our CAO Brucey Baby...Over the years we talked about work, kids, grandkids, and finally retirement.
