Rocky was truly one of a kind. We have been out of touch forever and this is a sad way to become connected again. It was in Rocky's skydiving days that we spent time with each other and we shared 'a lot of air' together back then... him leaving the plane and me staying with it taking him up to altitude and watching him depart to beat me back on to the ground. I can remember to this day the look on his face each time he jumped out that door and every time I greeted him again after landing. Absolute pure joy.
However there was this one time where he climbed out of my tiger moth onto the lower wing... walked forward on the wing to where the oil reservoir was...walked back and leaned in so I could hear him against the slip stream in the open cockpit and said... ' you need a quart'. Rocky was not wearing his parachute. I yelled, 'Don't you dare fall !' And he said... 'nope I wont. I don't want to cause all that paperwork you would have to fill out' After landing we schemed about creating a wing walking act but life got in both of our way.
Rocky did not boast about his abilities in the sky.. he quietly knew them and was confident in himself. Those were some great years we had Rocky. Like your obit says, you are now 'free to fly'

Rocky was one of my life's 'most unforgettable characters'. There are people in your life who become an extended part of your family. He was well named in that he was 'a rock', someone you could count on, for help, support, laughter and just plainly friendship. He and Deb and their family were and are the heart of a community. The video was wonderful, and the last image is just perfect. Thank you.

I am so sorry to hear of Rocky's passing. I was one of his Dispatchers at York Region. He was a pleasure to work with and made me laugh. He would call me to help him with some of the computer stuff while he was on shift. I'd tell him to just come see me in dispatch so I could show him, he always left with a smile on his face. Condolences to you all, the video was beautiful to watch. He would have been proud.

My father, Mackenzie Brown, was a founding member of the Canadian Parachute Club and he tried hang gliding at age 87. Like Rocky, he could repair and construct almost anything, and he also tried his hand at creative crafts that took skill. So he and the younger Rocky had much in common. When my father became severely disabled from Parkinson's and a broken hip, Rocky visited him often. Rocky would discuss repairs and other man-to-man stuff and it made my father feel significantly important to be included in the masculine world. Rocky's visits were always uplifting for my father and for me as Dad's full time caregiver.

The memorial video is so well done. It brought back so many memories for me, seeing Rocky through all the different phases of his life (since I spent half my teenage years at the Copithorn household). No words can ease the pain of Rocky being taken from us so young! I hope knowing that he will always live in your hearts brings you comfort. And, I look forward to sharing Rocky stories with a smile on our faces down the road.
