Condolences to the Laing Family.
I met Ron back in the mid-70's at YRP and we worked together in the Newmarket Investigative office and in Richmond Hill after we had both been promoted to Detective. When at work, Ron's focus was on his responsibilities, he was a dogged, no-nonsense Investigator and his approach brought many complex investigations to a successful close. There was also his light side, he liked to have a good time, always cheerful and eager to give someone a compliment, especially younger Officers. When you are engaged in this type of work, it is comforting to know others 'have your back', Ron was one of those guys, a true Brother.
He had great pride in his boys and was the type of Father all kids hoped to have. I'm happy that I knew Ron on both professional and personal fronts, he made a lasting impression of what a good person really is.
Missing you Ron.
-Brian Abraham

Thankfully Ron & Sherri enjoyed an abundance of wonderful times, creating warm memories together before health issues interjected. As a couple they faced these challenges with strength and courage in: epitomizing love's promise of "for better or for worse".
A life too short, Ron was blessed to know the support and love of so many friends, family and colleagues; but the gem in his world was Sherri.
Our heartfelt sympathy to the entire Laing family and Sherri our Sister, Sister-in-Law and Aunt.

Hi Sherri - My sincere condolences to you and family on the passing of Ron. Lots of fond memories of this man. He put up a long a tough battle. Such a private person. He was the first officer I rode with way back in the day not a big talker at the time and I got to tell him the story of first impressions last I saw him and we had a good chuckle of times gone bye. You will see many well wishes and tributes from the folks who worked with him and for him. That is the testament to person and impact he had on those he met and influenced. Gone but not forgotten. So saddened to hear the news. Ron was never short of a laugh.
I will forever cherish the beautiful memories that I shared with Ron and his family. He will be missed. I was fortunate to have met a caring and loving man like Ron.
Ron and Sherri made me feel at home, always making sure I was fed, gained a few pounds because of them :)
I was his nurse for 6 months and I truly enjoyed spending time with him, playing Crib, cleaning the pool, bottling pickled eggs, so many things we did together. He had a good sense of humour and always knew what to say to brighten anyone’s day.
He will truly be missed!
Sending healing prayers and comforting hugs to the family.

With such heavy hearts, we are going to miss Ronnie tremendously. As cousins, Ronnie was older than Larry by 2 months, and so for 72 years they had an amazing bond. Growing up, Larry spent his school years every summer with Ronnie, two weeks at his home and two weeks at the farm. They fished, hunted, and did more hunting. Ronnie had a huge heart and was extremely generous and was bigger than life and we loved spending time with Ronnie and Sherri. From Larry “Sadly, my best friend is gone but not forgotten”.
Love You

Ron was a true friend, never judgmental, a class act and gentleman. We cherish our memories of the many good times we shared.
Golf tournaments, playing cards (even when he discreetly stole your loonies) and the many backyard get togethers. Always the host, very welcoming and made everyone feel included. Although he often had a devilish, mischievous grin, he could not hide his sincerity and huge heart! We will miss Ronnie.
Our thoughts are with Sherri and family.
