Dear Family & Friends of the late John McLean:
Deepest condolences in these days since John died. John was legendary! He had down-to-earth, home-spun, hard-won, tried-and-true take on things of his dogs, his pigeons and life; he had a good sense of humour with a quick story to it! John was a man of true grit. We miss seeing him and his dog, Brillough, through Egypt. We'll always remember him as "the Beagle Man" John McLean! Deep regards,
Pastors Doug & Jeannie

We have very fond memories of Uncle John. Always a smile, a joke, a VERY strong hug whenever we saw him. The stories he retold of family always brought a smile. We will miss him. However, we are happy he is at peace. We are sure he has been reunited with those who passed before him and enjoying their company once again. RIP Uncle John. XO

It was with a heavy heart that I learned of Johns passing and extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
He "took me under his wing" when I started with East York Fire and was a great mentor that was always willing to pass on his knowledge to those that were interested. Being considerably taller than John I loved to tease him about his height and would wipe off the roof of the trucks while John was having a tough time reaching the middle of the windshield. Of course it ended with John laughingly telling me where to go. I have many excellent memories of spending time with John on the job, curling, ice fishing or having a few beers with. He was a real character with joke or story to tell, loved teasing my kids, a great firefighter, one who you could count on as a pump operator, an excellent mechanic and avid outdoorsman.
I had a lot of respect for and thought the world of John. He will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace.

John was a tough nut to crack, but once you did, he was your friend. He had a mischievous smile, always a joke and plenty of ice fishing advice. I will never forget his generosity with his relishes, preserves and recipes. He was fun to spend time and fish with, always a gentleman and handy if you needed help.
He will be missed.

I'll always remember our hunting and fishing trips together. John was a great story teller and knew how to string the kids along with tales of fish he'd seen caught or animals he'd shot. He was quick with his wit and gave many of his friends nick names that have lasted a lifetime. My condolences to Patrick, Peter and your entire family. RIP Mac.

John was our neighbor and was always so kind and cheery. He was so helpful with picking out our new fruit trees and shared a laugh while our beagle ran out of control around his yard! He always stopped his truck for a quick word. We will miss him. Paul and Ann Killoran
