Ian and family,
I vaguely recall my first visits to Dr. Erwood 60 years ago at the Don Mills Plaza. I was five years old sitting on a board mounted across the armrest of the dental chair staring at a beautiful Caribbean beach scene, listening to a man who to my young ears talked funny. Doc was my dentist for decades until my family moved to Unionville at which time I transferred to Ian and Company. Dr. Erwood made trips to the dentist bearable and in later years no appointment started until we, including Mrs. Erwood, had an update on our families activities. It was clear from our many conversations that he enjoyed dentistry but family was his true passion.
May you be comforted by the many memories of family gatherings. My thoughts are with you.

Doc and Beris "adopted" us, me being Marie-Louise 's sister and my family, years ago when the children started going to summer camp in Toronto . The door was always open in Toronto or Georgina and we became part of the gang for our time there. After Beris passed away, Doc would have his daily spot at Marie-Louise and Peter 's table for dinner. When we were in town, we would join him and keep him updated on our latest projects. In the summer we would check the vegetables growing in Doc 's garden and find new recipes to use the copious amounts of swiss chard. At Christmas time, we would touch bases with him before he went up to Georgina. We always had time for a chat and he was interested in what the children were doing and what their future interests were. He loved learning and always had a wide assortment of fascinating books on hand. He loved to share this knowledge with young and old and we would have discussion on all sorts of subjects. In the last years, we would sit together with our coffees in hand and work on puzzles. He liked to solve things and kept his mind active. He was a quiet man with a soft smile who was always ready to get his hugs! One when we arrived in town and one before we left. We were lucky to have known Doc and Beris and to have been part of the gang. We have fond memories of our time together. We laughed a lot, talked about Australia a lot and spent many evenings just talking about life in general. He was a quiet presence and who believed in helping and giving back. He will be sorely missed.
To the Erwood family, our deepest condolescenses for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
Christiane, Laval, Patrice and Catherine Bouchard.

To all of the Erwood family...our sincere condolences on your loss. Doc was such an amazing kind, fun man with a laugh that rings in my ears even today as I write this.
We were just friends of his kids but he always made us feel part of his extended family and was so kind to the boys.
We often reaped the benefits of his veggie garden too.
May he rest in peace and join the love of his life. XO
The Graves family.

To the Erwood Family,
Our sincerest condolences to all of you during this difficult time. Doc was a hard worker and a kind man and we were fortunate to know him. Always enjoyed seeing him working hard in the garden while up at the cottage. Many times he would knock on our door giving us fresh garden eats. Loved that swiss chard and beans!
It was lovely to see him in August celebrating his birthday with you all. What a life he built for himself and his family. He will be missed by many.
Ian, your eulogy was quite moving and very heartfelt. You are right, he is now with your mom (Mrs. Erwood to us).
Stay well, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was so fortunate to have such a wonderful grandfather. After my Grandma passed Grandpa would spend Christmas with us. Grandpa and I became really close. I have so many great memories from the holidays. We decorated gingerbread houses together, played board games, watch documentaries and talked about Australia. He would tell me how him and my Grandma met, where he went to school, what he would do for fun, what his mom was like and about his childhood pets. Last year I showed him all the places he was talking about on google earth, he was amazed to see his old house and his old school and city hall. Every time I would have these long chats with Grandpa I would learn more and more about him, I loved that. I was surprised he could still remember his childhood friends names and who his old professors were. He had such a great memory. Grandpa was so excited for everything and had a big reaction whenever you had news to tell him, he was always so proud of his grandchildren. He had a way of making you feel so important after telling him any news.
Grandpa was so excited to have so many great grand babies around him. I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with him when I was on maternity leave. When my daughter was two weeks old I went to pass her to my dad but right away Grandpa reached his arms out to take her, I was surprised he wanted to hold such a young baby, but he loved her. When Harper was doing tummy time he would sit across from her on the couch and wave to her and pass her toys, he would make faces at her and she would laugh. When we would put her in her activity centre he would walk up and play with the toys for her and press the built in piano and then dance to make her laugh, if she ever dropped a toy right away he would go over and pick it up for her. Once when my daughter was doing tummy time I ran to the other room to go quickly get something. When I returned Harper was sitting on grandpas lap. I have no idea how grandpa was able to bend over, pick her up and then carry her to the couch to sit on his lap. Grandpa never missed an opportunity to hold Harper.
Grandpa was a big presence and was always such great company. I’m going to miss him.
