Dearest Marge and Family
I am so Very Sorry for Your Loss. My Uncle Ray's life lit up with the addition of Marge. He was so very proud of his Children my Cousins and Overjoyed with the addition of his Grandson Jesse. I have fond memories of freezing watching him play hockey in the old Stouffville arena, aka the barn. It actually snowed inside. He was a dedicated athlete and a very good hockey player. It always makes me smile to remember when we all gathered at my grandmothers for Christmas dinner. We had so many people we took shifts to eat in their tiny East York home.
Uncle Ray would be present for all 3 shifts of dinner. He loved his food. We would have family parties after Christmas Dinner, which were very fun.
It was at Rays Stouffville home that we adopted our long time family pet Tiger. They had two Cats and Ray was nice enough to give my sister and I one. He always loved his cat Ginger, later Charlie and Sarah. His homes were decorated with his art. He had the gift of music and played the the guitar.
He would take us Ski-doing in the winter on the farm lands in Stouffville. Our family will miss his gentle manner.

Ray was the uncle who I really hadn't known very well until my adulthood. He was a real "people person" who knew how to include people and make them feel like family or close friends in no-time-at-all..!
In his younger years he had been known to be a very good dancer at parties, someone who loved to sing and play guitar - he had a wonderfully low and rich voice.
What inspired me as a young person were his collages, drawings and paintings in a folk-art style.
I remember my family visiting with his in Stouffeville, Ontario; he had been showing me the collages he had done on the wall of their kitchen. Afterward, I started doing some collage myself.
In the past year I told him how he had really inspired me in art but he was fairly matter-of-fact about it. He was such a humble person, he didn't seem to want to take a lot of credit for it.
Ray had so many interesting stories about playing baseball in the Riverdale Park diamonds and talked about living in Toronto as though it were just a few years ago. In fact it was more like 60 +!
He enjoyed talking about travels and various events that had taken place with his family.
It was clear he deeply loved his three children and wished them all much happiness. As well, he was a devoted husband to my Aunt Eileen (deceased in 2009) and over the past decade, to my Aunt Marge.
I will certainly miss the phone conversations I had with Ray in recent years - he was THE BEST LISTENER and knew how to have a good laugh. He was one of the warmest people I've ever known!
He certainly left the world a better place.
Thank you, Ray (uncle and friend) - may you rest in peace.
