So very sorry to hear of James' passing. My deepest condolences to all who knew him.
I would call James in the middle of the night to come into work to plow. James would answer the phone by saying "I'm on my way" I never had to tell him it was me. James was always my easiest call. He will be missed by many at York Region.
Rest easy James.

As a summer student we worked with James multiple summers. James was always cracking jokes and trying to bring a smile to everyones face. He was always looking out for the summer students and was eager to offer us a helping hand or guidance whenever we needed it. James loved telling us stories about his family, he was so proud of his girls and just beamed of happiness talking about them. Not only was he a colleague, he was a friend. It was a pleasure knowing James and he will be greatly missed by so many. Our condolences to his family and friends.

James, I met you six years ago when I started at the Region. I quickly realized when you didn't agree with something you would never hesitate to let me know lol. But at the end of the day we would always sit back and laugh because we both knew it was just a job.
Conversation came easy between us. We talked about watching our girls play sports to our mutual love for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
James you will be missed greatly, but you will never be forgotten by your extended family at the north yard. No more shift work or early mornings, so rest easy buddy the boys got your route covered. James, here's to one last go Leafs go! Rest in peace.
My condolences go to the Lance family. James' wife and two daughters. Be proud, your dad was a great guy.

Please know I am here for you for anything! Do not hestitate to ask.CC, Marley and I give you our deepest heartfelt condolences. Let us know when the celebration of life is.
My favorite memory of James was the soccer tourney in London when we went to Red Lobster and he told the waitress we were all his wives (you, me and Ulrika) and he was the father of all the kids (7 of them). That was a fun night like many those soccer years.

My memory of James is straight shooter first of all and all around great guy. Me and James didn’t click right off the start but he did stuff for me I will never forget. He did a thing for me that in life only my parents have done more for me in life and he didn’t have to. James didn’t have to help me but he did because he cared and that was who James was. I had bumped into James a few years later and was going through a rough time and he said bro give me a hug. To sum things up great man caring person only got better with age and he truly loved his family. I will miss him more than you can imagine and one of few people in life I can call a true friend. I will miss you dearly bro.

Uncle....you will be missed by us so much!! We love you with all our heart. You were the best uncle two boys could have. You brought life everywhere you went. Christmas won’t be the same without you there! Thank you for my first ever beer in that sauna. Taking us out in your old red Honda Civic and driving like a mad man. All the fun times and memories will never be forgotten. You will be missed by everyone that knew you. You were such a positive outgoing guy with one of a kind sense of humour. I’m so lucky my wife and kids got to meet you and that you were apart of there lives. You loved all three of your girls so much, they were your life. I know you will be watching over them as closely as you can. We will all do our part to keep them safe as you always asked. One thing is for sure there is no such thing as a bad memory when I think of you. Again Uncle I love you so much. I’m gonna miss you. We all are going to miss you. RIP

Dear Anita, Kiley and Emma,
Our sincerest condolences to you and your family. We have many fond memories of James from birthday parties, soccer, the cottage and just hanging out. He wasn’t always the loudest cheerer at the games, but pretty close! A great sport, like the time when we went for dinner in London, ON during a soccer tournament, and he ended up being the only male at a table with 3 women and 7 young girls, which did not face James; his jokes only got funnier. James was such a helpful person, always the first one to lend you a hand and a man with a big spirit. We will miss his big smile and friendly teasing, but it is nothing compared to what you must be feeling right now. It is a tremendous loss, but know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and we will be here for you always.
