I was sorry to hear the news about Shawn. I missed the funeral totally.
I got to know him at the Briars and we enjoyed playing golf although he hit it a lot further than I ever could. Also I was a customer of SLS and we used the OLD Flame for a large party we had. Glad to see the brewery is a success.
No matter what Shawn was involved with he always seemed to make you feel you were a special customer or friend to him. He had tons of integrity and we need more of that in today's world.

Years ago, I and my grandpa had the fantastic surprise and blessing of meeting Heather and Shawn on a tour of Europe. We quickly became the four trouble-making musketeers. I will always remember Shawn, who I feel so honored and fortunate to have known even a little bit, as a truly happy, lighthearted man who brought joy to my heart whenever I thought of him or got lucky enough to be around him. I can't remember Shawn without thinking of Heather, and I feel thankful for the years they had together; what a fantastic, incredible couple who clearly enjoyed each other for such great reasons. My grandpa loved to talk about Shawn, and how big and strapping he was, "not an ounce of fat on him" was one thing he always told people. Sending love to Heather, Chantelle, and Mckenna, and thoughts to Shawn's friends and family

Many great memories of playing hockey, drinking beers and sharing laughs with Shawn. His smile was infectious and he was always there when you needed him. Although we lost touch as our lives moved on.I would at times find myself cracking a smile at a triggered memory, these memories often involved a moment frozen in time with Shawn. He had that larger than life personality and you never did anything half-assed with Shawn. Thanks for the memories. RIP #27.

Heather, Chantelle, McKenna and LaRue family,
I cannot imagine what all of you are going through during this sad, unexpected and shocking time. My thoughts and heartfelt condolences to each and everyone of you. Sorry I cannot be there in person to pay my respects that is the downfall of living miles away.
Shawn's personality, smile and laugh was infectious, he had a love and genuine care for anyone he met. He truly was a one of a kind!
He was a true friend to me throughout our school years and adult life. It never mattered how many days, weeks or months passed from visits he always had a hug to give and would always want to catch up on how and what me and my girls were doing. I watched him succeed and show his love in anything he did like play hockey, golf, ski, build a monster truck (which he would have to lift us into), race snowmobiles, start a business or two. He always had ambition, passion and compassion for life like no other and he always spoke of his love for Heather, his girls and family.
Hold your memories, family and friends close to help you get through this difficult time in life.
RIP my dear friend Shawn

I can't even count how many times he got it done for us....how many times we stood back in awe as he rigged up pulleys to haul tons of equipment from flatbeds & cranes....through doors just barely wide enough or tall enough. .The stories seem endless.

As the hockey season began that fall both Pefferlaw Purple and Jersey White teams were undefeated as the first head to head match came upon us just before Christmas.
The parents of both teams players were in the lobby of the Sutton Arena, both with expectations of victory.
The game was fast (for pre-teens) and back and forth all game long. It was early in the second period when a young Gregg Jorritsma would chase after a puck in hopes of a second goal when he was crushed into the boards by the freight train that was Shawn LaRue.
It would be about 20 years later when I returned to Georgina and started playing rec hockey with Shawn and we became friends.
It was the first game of the season one of the other team players took a run at me after a goal. As I looked up from the ice at the giant guy who had cross checked me down, there was Shawn pushing the guy back and asking him if he wanted to pick on somebody his own size.
I was lucky enough to see him this spring when he gave me a tour of his Old Flame Brewery. It was great to see him but for me the above story really describes Shawn and his life.
The world could use more Shawn LaRue!

Our deepest condolences to the family. I remember meeting the LaRue family when we moved to across from the farm on Hollywood. We had a volkswagon bug for sale and Shawn and his brothers turned it into a dunebuggy and we watched regularly as they ran it around the farm. Didnt really keep in touch as they became adults but remember what great men Shawn and his brothers/sister became. Such a tragedy.

Our thoughts are with Heather and family. Shawn was one of the Briars' members who shaped our son's passion as a fire fighter. Shawn came to our rescue as we found ourselves with broken keys in our locks. He made an impact on our lives and will be missed

Shawn worked for me for many years before I retired in 2010. He was a great asset to my Platoon that could be relied upon at every call to complete all tasks with his crew, always in a professional way. Heather, Chantelle and Mckenna you were always foremost on his mind. I send my deepest condolences to all of you at this time. Shawn is gone way too soon. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.
