I am deeply saddened by Sara’s loss. I knew Sara through the Zentangle community, and I will always remember her beautiful smile and her generous spirit. Sara and her mom Elaine came to Elora to a Zentangle Teacher Retreat and I will never forget Sara’s excitement. I am very thankful to have a small piece of art that Sara, Elaine and I created together. Sara often talked of Emily and how special she is. My thoughts are with the whole family. I met Sara at a Cancer Support Group in Aurora called Picking Up the Pieces. We were a small group of women who had all dealt with and/or were dealing with cancer. Even though we only saw each other over a couple of months, every week, through this program, we had a special bond. I was so incredibly sad when Karin from our group told me about Sara. She spoke so fondly of her family very often. She had an incredible smile and a wonderful laugh. I am lucky to have met her and glad I got to know her a little. Sincere condolences. Susan Barnes

I met Sara at the Dragonfly retreat. She was warm, friendly and eager to support everyone around her. Her generosity of spirit impressed you right away. I met Sara at the PUP program at Hope House in Aurora, we immediately connected and became close while we were both fighting this disease. Sara was empathetic, funny, caring and so very wise. I feel so privileged to have met and known her.

Sara,
I remember the fun we had when we met at teacher’s college and all the conversations we had. It was great to have a friend like you, who “got me” so well. You we’re sorry supportive of all my life bumps and you helped tremendously with input based on your extensive training in Spec Ed — my kids are complicated. I remember us both getting our first cars within weeks of each other — Chrysler Neons, both silver? And I loved visiting. I remember calling you almost every day when you were bedridden in the hospital waiting for Emily to make her grande appearance — I wanted to brighten up your days. Somehow, you always brightened up mine. I know we have been miles apart across the country, but we always picked up where we left off when we chatted and cared deeply for each other. You fought a good fight that should have never been yours in the first place, but you wore a badge of courage and optimisn and strength. Thanks for showing me how to have faith despite the hard times.
