We are very sorry to hear of Joan’s passing. She taught two of our sons at St. Thomas Aquinas in Keswick. She was always such a kind and considerate person. I will always remember how she took our oldest son, a student of hers at the time, home with her when I was in the hospital. I also remember sitting reading little books night after night with our second son so he could add a section to the classroom bookworm. What a wonderful teacher!

Mrs. Bentley was my grade 2 teacher almost 32yrs ago. I'm sure I can speak for most when I say that there are a select few teachers that we will remember for the rest of our lives because of the influence that they have had on us at a young age. To this day she was one of the most influential people in my life. Now as a teacher myself, I can only hope that I'm half the influence that she was to me and an inspiration to the lives that I touch in the way that she was to mine. I'm so deeply sorry for your loss.

Dear Peter and family,
Carolyn, Andrea and I offer you our deepest condolences. I just read the obituary in our local paper now, otherwise we would have offered our condolences in person.
Joan was a beautiful womanin every sense of the word. Kind hearted is how I mostly remember her. Carolyn and Andrea always loved Mrs. Bently and were very delighted to have her as their teacher. Glenda always spoke highly of Joan and loved their working and friend relationship.

I always remember meeting Joan when I came to OLGC in 1987.
She always had a friendly smile and helped me feel welcomed.
Joan continued to be someone who always checked in to see how things were going. Her smile was warm and encouraging asking me how I was and was all working well.
Peter it was so nice to see you and Joan at the closing celebration of OLGC. She even then had that smile and asked how and if all was well.
May lifes memories comfort you and in time soften the sadness of your loss. Thoughts are with you today.

Alf & I are very saddened to hear of Joan's passing, she is now out of pain and at peace. I know having assisted her at STA that there are many people out there who now have their 'pencil drivers license' and 'can read up a storm' because of a great teacher who loved her students and taught them well.
