Just learned yesterday the shocking news of your lost and I dare say humanity's lost. I knew Janice because she had been the vet of Gaston our white rabbit. We could call at any time to ask a question and she would return our call and discuss the situation. Rabbits are viewed as an exotic pet, very few vets know much about them. She did. Janice always showed such much love, caring towards everybody.
About a year after Gaston died, I received a call from Janice. She was looking for a home for a big loppy ear rabbit that was going to end up in the freezer if she could not find a home for it. It belonged to a breeder who did not want it anymore. I found a home for it. The rabbit spread a lot of love and laughter in it's new home that I was able to find for it. We picked it up that evening. a little girl got a best friend with that rabbit.
Panda, the big white and black dog was also a rescue.
She went out of her way to help the helpless. I am sure that there so many more stories like these on. I just wanted to share this one.

My deepest sympathy to Janice's family and close friends. Janice and I went to elementary school and part of high school together back in the 70's. In those days, she was one of my best friends, who already had an amazing love for and affinity with animals. When I looked her up years later, I had no doubt that the veterinarian that I found was the same Janice from our school years all those decades ago.
I am so grateful that I had a brief chance to virtually reconnect before she passed, and very sad that we won't have the chance to connect in person again. She was an amazing kid when I knew her "back in the day", and I have no doubt that she became the most amazing woman.
She'll be missed, even by those who haven't seen her in so long.

My heartfelt condolences to Janice’s family. I knew her firstly as vet to my personal pets, then later she gave me encouragement and support when I floated the idea of starting a guinea pig rescue. Ten years later, we have helped over 1500 guinea pigs, none of which would have happened without Janice’s help in the early days.
She was a wonderful vet, who will be greatly missed in her community, and especially by the many friends she made along the way..
