Obituary of Martha Wistowsky

Martha passed away peacefully on Apr.14, 2018 at Cedarvale Long Term Care at the age of 96.  She was the wife of the late William (Bill) Wistowsky and beloved mom of Kathy Bruce (Tom) of Keswick and William (Beverley) of Peterborough.  She was Grandma to Alex, Eric (Jen), Adrienne (Jesse), and Ian and Great-Grandma to Andrew and Olivia.  She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces Evelyn and Martha and nephew Josef (Lavorca), her extended family, and friends.  Martha is predeceased by her brother Josef Fischer and his wife Mina.  Martha, the daughter of Josef and Martha (Beugler)Fischer, was born in Mamming, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1952.  She met her heavenly dancer Bill on Centre Island in Toronto. They married and raised their family in Toronto.  She held a Home Economics degree and completed her seamstress internship in Germany.  She was an incredible seamstress and a great cook – no one ever left her home hungry.  We owe Cedarvale staff a huge thank you for nurturing Martha these past 6 ½ yrs.  from independent living to assisted living and finally to long term care.  We will all raise a glass of ‘Weiss bier’ to Martha.Visitation will be held at M.W. Becker Funeral Home, 490 The Queensway South, Keswick on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 129 Metro Road, North, Keswick on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment to take place at Parklawn Cemetery, 2845 Bloor St W, Etobicoke on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11 a.m.  In memory of Martha, donations made to the Georgina Food Pantry would be greatly appreciated.
