Edna was very active in the Town of Georgina as chairperson of the Library Board for 20 years. She was very instrumental in the planning, design, fundraising and completion of the Stephen Leacock Centre as well as participating on several other boards and in many community events. Edna passed away peacefully at York Central Hospital, Richmond Hill, with her daughter Louann at her side, on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Predeceased by her husband of 63 years Cecil Sanders (2010). Dear mother of Larry (Angela) and Louann (Joseph). Cherished grandmother of Joanna (Steven), Julian (Robin) and Abby. Great grandmother of Amelia. Edna was lovingly supported by her caregivers Iris Coll, Lee Smallwood and Lorraine Fisher. Edna will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family wishes to express their special thanks to the doctors at the Oak Ridges Dialysis Unit, Heather and the rest of the nursing staff and family doctor Dr. Doberty. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service with a light luncheon to follow. Anyone with memories or stories to share about Edna is welcome to do so at the service. If desired, donations to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family
